UARR Attends the Unveiling of Nelson Mandela Boulevard

Today marked the unveiling of Nelson Mandela Boulevard, ceremoniously renamed for University Avenue. Speakers included Mayor John Tory, Consul General of South Africa, Nyameko Goso, former Toronto Councillor Ceta Ramkhalawansingh, as well as Grade 2 and 8 guest speakers from the Nelson Mandela Park Public School. In one of Nelson Mandela’s visits was a significant walk from University Avenue to Queens Park. To commemorate Mandela’s legacy, the Mandela Legacy Committee invites you to join the Freedom Walk on Saturday, June 20th, 2015, from 11 am to 4 pm. We will meet at Armoury St. and Nelson Mandela Boulevard (formerly University Avenue), then walk together, in the spirit of reconciliation, equity, social justice, anti-racism, and inclusivity, to Queens Park.
