Dec 6th National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

The Urban Alliance on Race Relations was proud to speak on December 6th at Humber College’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Jeff Perera from The White Ribbon campaign delivered a great Keynote. Making Noise @Humber Student Advisory Committee also participated in the event, tabling with us and learning more about how we can all work to address and prevent violence against women and children.

METRACs Safety Assessment Training

Making Noise @Humber hosted its first round of safety assessment Trainings at the Lakeshore campus today. Members of our student committee learned about METRAC’s Action Tool to evaluate the safety of an area by Identifying safety concerns, Discussing solutions and Developing an action plan to create safer spaces.

The second round of Trainings will occur on Thursday with students at the North campus. The student committee is preparing to lead a campus walkabout where participants travel across campus and identify ways to make their environment safer. This includes physical and social safety concerns. The walk about will take place in late November and is open to all members of the Humber community.
